APT Standardization Program ASTAP

• Founded in February 1998
• To promote coordinate expert activities in
  telecommunications standardization across the
  Asia-Pacific region

Objectives of ASTAP

• To establish regional cooperation on
  standardization
• To harmonize standardization activities in the
  region
• To enhance the level of expertise on
  standardization among the membership
• To expand contribution to global standardization
  activities, through cooperation on
  Standardization
• To foster appropriate institutional arrangements
  for promotion of telecommunications
  standardization in the Asia-Pacific region.
• Upward and downward dissemination of information
  on standardization
• Collaboration with RD organizations and SDOs
• Preparations for World Telecommunication
  Standardization Assemblies and ITU
  Plenipotentiary Conferences

CONCLUSION

• Secretariat continues to improve the ASTAP web
  site
• Easy to work through e-mail reflectors
• Texts can be uploaded on the bulletin boards
• All office bearers and experts are encouraged to
  work electronically in between ASTAP Forums
• Not highly secured but very useful
