  • Affects employees who are only eligible for
    military leave without pay
  • Employees on inactive duty training
  • Employees on active duty for training who are in
    their original probationary period
  • Employees on active duty for training who have
    exhausted the annual 30 day military leave
    provision

  • New provision Employees on military leave
    without pay for duly authorized inactive duty
    training or active duty for training shall
    continue to earn vacation, sick leave and legal
    holiday credits.
  • Eligible employees Employees covered under 1 of
    10 bargaining units who use this wording
    (includes WSEU, Law Enforcement, WPEC and
    Building Trades) and all non-represented
    classified and unclassified employees.

  • Payroll staff will have to manually adjust leave
    balances when the employee returns from an unpaid
    leave of absence.
  • Employees always have the right to use
    accumulated leave, except sick leave, to remain
    on payroll during a military leave.
  • New Military Leave FAQ should be available online
    within the month
  • Will include info on new leave provision
  • Will include sample calculations for both paid
    and unpaid military leave
