Series website.

My Review I think that this software is very
educational. It keeps the children involved and
has a lot of activities that they can participate
in. Not only does it just same words in five
different languages, but the children can play
games, learn songs, and read stories in the
different languages. The only think that I do
not see positive about the software is that is
does not have more languages. The amount it does
have is appropriate for the grade level though.
Professional Review Young students are
introduced to language, culture, music, art, and
writing activities in America, Argentina, France,
Japan, Kenya, and Russia in Travel the World with
Timmy Deluxe. Each student signs in to get a
passport, then chooses a path through the
program. In each country, students make choices
to play a native game, learn counting and math
skills, sing a song, make their own arts and
crafts, or make a story book. The books can be
printed with four pages on a sheet, resulting in
a small storybook. They can save their work and
come back to it later. At any time, students can
consult a multi-language dictionary, switch
between English and the language of the country
they are visiting, or go back to the main menu to
choose another country or activity. It's a highly
interactive program that encourages students to
explore six different cultures.

How I Feel about the Software
I think that this software is a great to for
many different lessons in that concentrate on
learning different languages or lessons that talk
about different parts of the world. This
software has five countries which is a decent
amount, but I think it may be used more if there
were more countries for the students to learn
about. The icons are easy to understand. The
one thing that I didnt not like about the
program was that there was no room for growth.
There was only a limited amount of information.
I think that there would be better software to
show a students growth in language and also grow
with them. Therefore I myself would not purchase
this software.

NETS Standards for Students

• Basic operations and concepts
• The students using this software understand how
  to use the program and get through all of the
  different parts. They know how to put the disk
  in and how to get it out of the computer.

2. Social, ethical, and human issues With
this program students are learning about
different parts of the country. They are
learning parts of the language, where they are
located, and some personal things about that
country.

Although I think this software is great for what
it does teach, I do not think that it should be
purchased for an entire lab. I do however think
that purchasing four or five of the programs for
a lab would work out great. More than likely
students will be working together so that amount
would be beneficial and serve its purpose.
