Title: Gladys Aylward
1Gladys Aylward
- Missionary to China
- During a war involving Japan, China, and Russia,
she marched 100 orphans for 100 miles through the
mountains to safety in Siam. She also rescued
young girls from the torture of foot-binding.
2Amy Carmichael
- Missionary to India
- She rescued young girls who were forced to be
temple prostitutes in Hindu temples. She started
a home for these children called the Dohnavur
Fellowship. She ministered in India for 53 years
without a furlough.
3Lillian Trasher
- Missionary to Egypt
- Known as the Mother of the Nile, Lillian
founded the first orphanage in Egypt. She broke
her marriage engagement to spend her life for God
on the mission field. For over 50 years she
continued on despite poverty, war, and deadly
epidemics. She changed the lives of thousands of
children.
4Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu (Mother Teresa)
- Missionary to the slums of Calcutta, India
- Orphans, beggars, lepers, the sick, the dying and
the homeless all called her mother. In 1950 she
founded the Missionaries of Charity order of
nuns, which has grown to over 3,000 nuns in
centers around the world. She received the Nobel
Peace Prize in 1979. - Each one of us is a co-worker of Christ - we
must labour hard to carry Him to the hearts where
He has not yet been known and loved. But, unless
we have Jesus, we cannot give Him.
5Mary Slessor
- Missionary to Calabar, Africa
- Daring to face headhunters, witchcraft and
disease she traveled to one of the most dangerous
places on the earth. Much of her time was spent
spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ from
village to village. She also confounded the
witch-doctors as she accurately treated the
medical needs of the people. If a family had
twins, one of the babies was thought to be a
devil so they would leave the child in the
jungle. Mary rescued these children.
6Marie Eiland
- Missionary to India
- Formerly a missionary in El Salvador, Marie
Eiland brought structure and curriculum to a
Childrens Evangelistic program called Kings
Castle. She now travels to churches and villages
throughout India to train childrens workers and
pastors for the ministry. She has also provided
training for Christian Schools and Childrens
Ministry Conferences. She does evangelistic work
in villages along the Himalayas. She has a
vision to reach the children of India, that they
might change the future of India for Christ.
7Who are the Esthers in this generation that God
has called for a time such as this?
Ezekiel 2230 - "I looked for someone who might
rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the
land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap
in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the
land, but I found no one. Ezekiel 3466 - They
have wandered through the mountains and hills,
across the face of the earth, yet no one has gone
to search for them. Isaiah 5810 - Feed the
hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light
will shine out from the darkness, and the
darkness around you will be as bright as day.
8- It is our obligation as people of God, whom are
carrying the baton for this leg of the race, to
be faithful to intercede for and support our
world missionaries. Intercession is the way that
leads to the winning of souls. No church can
prosper without it. No Christian can grow
without it. The law of life demands reproduction
- that kind should beget kind. - Jesus interceded for us.
- You begin to care for a person spiritually when
you begin to pray for them.
