Rocky (Threat) Problem Used in Experiment 3
(Double Cross) Rocky Berger is the head of a
chapter of the Hells Angels. Hes pretty tough,
and lots of people are afraid of him. His Harley
motorcycle is his prized possession, and he
doesnt want anyone touching it, in case they
mess up the perfect finish. He tells each member
of his chapter the following If you touch my
motorcycle, Ill break your legs. The members
of the chapter arent sure what to make of his
threats. Rocky is a tough and mean guy, so he
never bluffs when he makes a threat. Hes so mean
that he might not keep his word and double-cross
you instead. The only way to find out is to catch
him in the act. The cards below represent four
members of the Hells Angels. One side of a card
tells whether or not the person touched Rockys
motorcycle, and the other side tells whether or
not Rocky broke the persons legs. For each card,
you can only see the side that is facing
up. Indicate only those card(s) that you would
definitely need to turn over in order to
determine whether or not Rocky has double-crossed
