2Making, then Mining your Perception Surveys for
pure safety gold
3Why measure with a survey?
- Sometimes it seems hopeless and reality dawns on
you that you are possibly just not in touch with
the troops. Usually that is just after the OSHA
officer has visited from either an amputation,
fatality, or a complaint that you feel just came
out of left field to blindside you and your
safety program. - Lets see if we can change your Perception of
the culture in which you live!
4Culture isnt just for snobby people!
- The Sum Total of Ways of Living
- Built Up By A Group of Human
- Beings And Transmitted From
- One Generation To Another.
- Reflects Prevailing Attitudes, Beliefs,
- Norms, Values and Behaviors.
5What can I gain by such a fuzzy tool?
- Validation that you were on the right track
- Another opening to learn about the family you
live with during your work day / life - Valuable communication channels which may have
restrictions can become openings for growth and
positive change - A reality check you never expected from the open
door policy we all espouse
6Why do I need such a survey anyway?
Benefits of the Perception Survey They offers a
practical statistical method to assess employee
satisfaction Increases have been shown to
increase employee loyalty by allowing employee
input into the facility thus showing value for
its members at all levels. Encourages employee
participation. Shows that management is in a
customer service culture. May help reduces
employee turnover. Creates a valuable pool of
ideas and suggestions we may have missed and
disregarded. Provides a vehicle for important
communication which get dropped by many companies
due to dealing with the day to day business.
