What is Roots?
being rooted and established in love Ephesians

  • An ecumenical resource based on The Revised
    Common Lectionary.
  • A joint Churches initiative supported by CTBI
    with representatives from the Churches and church
    publishers.

Where does it come from?
  • Consultations began in June 1998 to consider the
    future of worship and learning in the churches.
  • In November 1999 the decision was taken by church
    representatives and publishers to set up a
    steering group.
  • In September 2000 a management group and
    editorial group were formed.
  • Funding was received from charitable trusts,
    including The Jerusalem Trust, The Beatrice Laing
    Trust and Allchurches Trust.

Where does it come from?
  • Roots for Churches Ltd was established in 2001.
  • Partners of the company include
  • Churches Together in Britain and Ireland
  • The Archbishops Council
  • Methodist Publishing House
  • The United Reformed Church
  • Christian Education
  • The Council for Sunday Schools and Christian
    Education in Wales.
  • Support is being actively sought from other
    churches.

Roots Worship is for leaders of church worship
services for adults, or when all ages worship
together. Roots Children Young People is for
those who work with 4-14 year olds in
church. www.rootsontheweb.com is a web site for
all subscribers.
