HE CAME TO HIS OWN

• His own kind?
• Jews?
• Humanity?
• Fits better with humanity in that He became a man
  to share our human nature.
• Physically, was descendant of Abraham, through
  Isaac, through Jacob, through Judah, through
  David.
• But emphasis isnt on the nature of the body, but
  the reality of God becoming human.

His own

• Word is Neuter.
• Some have thought it then referred to His own
  country, referring to Palestine.
• More likely, His own world.
• Vs. 10 He was in the world, The world was made
  through Him, and the world did not know Him.
• Thus His own that did not accept Him was
  mankind, not just the Jews.
• That is the story of His coming and rejection.
  Isaiah 531-3

AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM

• Receiving Christ is personal.
• Not done as a nation.
• Not as a family.
• Each individual must make the choice.
• What must I do to be saved?
• Note that His explanation of Receiving Christ was
  to believe in His name.
• It is taking Him as both Lord and Savior. It is
  taking Him for what He came to be. He came as the
  true light which enlightens every man. Vs. 9

HE GAVE AUTHORITY

• Word, for power, authority or right. The one who
  believes can become, but not all who believe
  become what they could be.
• It is the right of Sonship. He offers us family.
  He offers heritage. He offers a place of
  acceptance to anyone who wills to come to Him.
• See Galatians 326-28

The privilege of Sons

• Have the Spirit to lead me. Romans 814
• Adopted into His family. Vs. 15
• His Spirit bears witness with ours. Vs. 16
• Because we are sons, God sent for the Spirit into
  our hearts, crying Abba! Father! Galatians 46
• No longer a slave as son and an heir of God.

THE GREATEST SHOW OF LOVE

• I JOHN 31-3
• We are children So the world doesnt know us.
• Now children will be like Him, because we will
  see Him as He is.
• This hope purifies the soul.
• There are no orphans with God. In Him every
  child can have a wonderful Father.
• Wisdom is to wrap ourselves in that love.
