Project Description

• Southgate Boulevard runs parallel to the South
  Florida Water Management Districts C-14 Canal
  and provides access to a number of residential
  communities before it ends near the Florida
  turnpike. Its straight alignment and location
  away from heavily traveled areas provided a
  temptation to local residents for speeding and
  drag racing of automobiles.
• The City decided to implement a traffic calming
  project for the area utilizing a curvilinear road
  cross-section with landscaping for both
  beautification and traffic calming as well as
  round-abouts at the two side road intersections.
