Title: RPI Student Section of the American Nuclear Society
1 It is our pleasure to extend an invitation for
you to attend a one-day symposium on Economics in
the Nuclear Industry. The purpose of this
symposium is to bring together the economic and
financial viewpoints from both the government
agencies and the commercial nuclear industry.
Recent changes in the economic landscape of the
energy industry have rejuvenated interest in
nuclear power. In light of the Energy Policy Act
of 2005, tax credits, loan guarantees, and risk
insurance have created additional excitement and
anticipation for the construction of new
reactors. The economic feasibility of the Next
Generation Nuclear Plant Project and the Advanced
Fuel Cycle Initiative have established
prospective foundations for the future of nuclear
power. Speakers and panelists will deliberate on
the economic benefits and challenges facing the
nuclear industry. The symposium is being held
prior to the 2006 ANS Student Conference hosted
by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Space for
students is limited with priority given to
professionals attending. Come and be energized,
renew enthusiasm, and be a part of the building
of the future of the nuclear industry. We look
forward to seeing you there! Tristan M
