Title: What God Wants Of Every Mother
1What God Wants Of Every Mother
1 Samuel 110-19
2There are several mothers mentioned in the
Bible. Some were wicked like Jezebel. Some were
godly women of faith. One of the most favored
mothers is Hannah.
She had a son named Samuel. He was a godly man,
because of his mother. She seriously dedicated
her son to the Lord before he was born.
3Since she dedicated him to the Lord, she realized
God was watching her every move in his
upbringing. God says that we are to, not
provoke our children to wrath, but bring them up
in the training and admonition of the Lord
(Eph.64).
I dont believe he ever saw her curse, drink,
chew, or run with those who do. She lived a model
godly life before her son.
4- AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP (vs.11)
- She knew who she belonged to.
- She knew she belonged to the only one who could
do something about her problem God! - She knew she belonged to Elkanah (vs.19).
- Ladies you cannot have an intimate
relationship with God if you
dont have an intimate relationship with your
husband (Eph.522-24 1 Pet.31-5).
5- AN EMOTIONAL LAMENTATION (vs.10)
- She was greatly distressed.
- Are you greatly distressed for your children? Or
are they a bother to you? - Will you be glad when they leave home? Or
are you glad they are gone? - Do you pray regularly for them?
- Do your children see you pray?
- Is prayer your first resource or last
resort?
6- AN IMPORTANT AFFIRMATION (vs.11)
- She made a commitment.
- She kept that commitment.
- Many in the heat of a revival make vows to the
Lord. - But when the emotion dies down they
fail to carry through. Jesus spoke of
this in (Mat.2128-31). - But, Brother Ray, you dont know
how tough it is. - Can you imagine giving up your son!
- God blesses the keeping of our commitments to Him.
7- AN AFFECTIONATE RECOLLECTION (vs.19)
- Notice, God remembered her!
- His remembrance was one of a godly woman.
- It is not so important that we know God, as
it is for Him to know us (Mat.721-23).
8What kind of parent do you want to be? What kind
of relationship do you have with God? What kind
of relationship do you have with your
spouse? What kind of relationship do you have
with your children? Have you made commitments to
God? To Your spouse? To your
children? Have you kept them?
9Happy Mothers Day! God bless each of you.
