4But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower
than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor
because he suffered death, so that by the grace
of God he might taste death for everyone. In
bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that
God, for whom and through whom everything exists,
should make the author of their salvation perfect
through suffering . . . Since the children have
flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity
so that by his death he might destroy him who
holds the power of death that is, the
deviland free those who all their lives were
held in slavery by their fear of death.
Hebrews 29-10, 14-15
5Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set
before him endured the cross, scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God. Consider him who endured such opposition
from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary
and lose heart. In your struggle against sin,
you have not yet resisted to the point of
shedding your blood.
Hebrews 122-4

7Is He
Chosen One of God
God
Messiah
King of the Jews
Son of God
8In him was life, and that life was the light of
men.
John 14
9The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among
us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One
and Only, who came from the Father, full of
grace and truth. John testifies concerning him.
He cries out, saying, This was he of whom I
said, He who comes after me has surpassed me
because he was before me. From the fullness of
his grace we have all received one blessing after
another. For the law was given through Moses
grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 114-17
10The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and
said, Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the
sin of the world!
John 129
11Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert,
so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that
everyone who believes in him may have eternal
life. For God so loved the world that he gave
his one and only Son, that whoever believes in
him shall not perish but have eternal life. For
God did not send his Son into the world to
condemn the world, but to save the world through
him. John 314-17
12I have testimony weightier than that of John.
For the very work that the Father has given me
to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that
the Father has sent me.
John 536
13I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
If anyone eats of this bread, he will live
forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will
give for the life of the world. Then the Jews
began to argue sharply among themselves, How can
this man give us his flesh to eat? Jesus said
to them, I tell you the truth, unless you eat
the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh
and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will
raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is
real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever
eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in
me, and I in him. John 651-56
14When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you
will know that I am the one I claim to be and
that I do nothing on my own but speak just what
the Father has taught me.
John 828
15I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays
down his life for the sheep . . . I am the
good shepherd I know my sheep and my sheep know
me just as the Father knows me and I know the
Father and I lay down my life for the sheep. .
. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay
down my life only to take it up again.
John
1011-17
16At first his disciples did not understand all
this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they
realize that these things had been written about
him and that they had done these things to him.
John 1216
17Jesus replied, The hour has come for the Son of
Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth,
unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and
dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it
dies, it produces many seeds.
John 1223-24
18But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will
draw all men to myself. He said this to show
the kind of death he was going to die.
John 1232-33
19Having loved his own who were in the world, he
now showed them the full extent of his love.
John 131
20Greater love has no one than this, that he lay
down his life for his friends.
John 1513

23Therefore, since we have been justified through
faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access
by faith into this grace in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. .
. . You see, at just the right time, when we
were still powerless, Christ died for the
ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a
righteous man, though for a good man someone
might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates
his own love for us in this While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now
been justified by his blood, how much more shall
we be saved from God's wrath through him! For
if, when we were God's enemies, we were
reconciled to him through the death of his Son,
how much more, having been reconciled, shall we
be saved through his life! Not only is this so,
but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we have now received
reconciliation.

27But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far
away have been brought near through the blood of
Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has
made the two one and has destroyed the barrier,
the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing
in his flesh the law with its commandments and
regulations. His purpose was to create in
himself one new man out of the two, thus making
peace, and in this one body to reconcile both
of them to God through the cross, by which he
put to death their hostility.

30 The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed,
took bread, and when he had given thanks, he
broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for
you do this in remembrance of me." In the same
way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This
cup is the new covenant in my blood do this,
when-ever you drink it, in remembrance of me."
For whenever you eat this bread and drink this
cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he
comes. 1 Corinthians 1123-26
