2 Corinthians 514-15
For the love of Christ compels us, because we
judge thus that if One died for all, then all
died and He died for all, that those who live
should live no longer for themselves, but for Him
who died for them and rose again. Therefore, from
now on, we regard no one according to the flesh,
yet now we know Him thus no longer.

THE LOVE OF CHRIST

• Christs love for us.
• Our love for Him is a response to His love for us

• Love agape (Greek word)
• Sincere, unselfish, active, rational.
• Always seeks what is best for the one who is
  loved.

1 Corinthians 134-8
Love suffers long and is kind love does not
envy love does not parade itself, is not puffed
up does not behave rudely, does not seek its
own, is not provoked, thinks no evil does not
rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay
down ones life for his friends.

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives
His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is
not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep,
sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and
flees and the wolf catches the sheep and
scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a
hireling and does not care about the sheep.

Compels
to hold together, to urge, impel
Christs love dominates those who truly love Him.
Christs love is The all sustaining power,
holding our lives together. The absorbing passion
that compels obedience.

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will
draw all peoples to Myself. This He said,
signifying by what death He would die. (John
1232-33)

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower
than the angels, for the suffering of death
crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the
grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

now live, And He died that my sins He might fully
forgive. In the Garden of Sorrows He suffered
for me, In the cold judgment Hall He was
sentenced for me, In the midst of the mob He was
nailed to the tree, And in love He was willing to
die there for me. In this wonderful Savior no
fault could be found, But through envy they led
Him to Calvarys mound. O forgive them He
cried, ere in anguish He died, And He loved to
the end, my dear Lord crucified.

If you are the Son of God, come down from the
cross. (Matthew 2739)
He saved others Himself He cannot save let
Him now come down from the cross and we will
believe Him (Matthew 2742)

JESUS DEATH WAS VOLUNTARY
Let this mind be in you which was also in
Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did
not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but
made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of
a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
And being found in appearance as a man, He
humbled Himself and became obedient to the point
of death, even the death of the cross.
(Philippians 25-8).

JESUS DEATH WAS VOLUNTARY
Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay
down My life that I may take it again. No one
takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I
have power to lay it down, and I have power to
take it again. This command I have received from
My Father. (John 1017-18)

To the present hour we both hunger and thirst,
and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and
homeless. And we labor, working with our own
hands. Being reviled, we bless being persecuted,
we endure being defamed, we entreat. We have
been made as the filth of the world, the
offscouring of all things until now. (1
Corinthians 411-13).

Are they ministers of Christ? - I speak as a
fool - I am more in labors more abundant, in
stripes above measure, in prisons more
frequently, in deaths often. From the Jews five
times I received forty stripes minus one. Three
times I was beaten with rods once I was stoned
three times I was shipwrecked a night and a day
I have been in the deep in journeys often, in
perils of robbers, in perils of my own
countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils
in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in
perils in the sea, in perils among false
brethren in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness
often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often,
in cold and nakedness besides the other things,
what comes upon me daily my deep concern for all
the churches. (2 Corinthians 1123-27)

From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear
in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is

And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has
not left Me alone, for I always do those things
that please Him. (John 829)

For even Christ did not please Himself but as
it is written, The reproaches of those who
reproached You fell on Me. (Romans 153)
My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me,
and to finish His work. (John 434).

I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge
and My judgment is righteous, because I do not
seek My own will, but the will of the Father who
sent Me. (John 530)
For I have come down from heaven, not to do My
own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. (John

also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that
