1
Outflow 2009
  • John 737-38

2
The Challenge
  • If you think mission work is just for pastors,
church leaders, and people with a seminary
degree, prepare to think again! Each person can
reach beyond the walls of the our church.
  • Sharing the good news of Jesus is the
responsibility of every believer. But many times
we dont take the opportunities to share which is
why this summer our challenge is to get involved
in the lives of the people around our church

3
Whats already planned for Summer 2009?
  • Childrens Camp
  • Bible School (VBS)
  • Mission trip to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania

4
What is being considered?
  • Prayer Walking
  • Surveying/City Groups
  • Backyard Bible Club
  • Basketball Day Camp (UPWARD Basketball)
  • Community wide evangelistic block party
  • Free Movie in the Park
  • Fire house / Police office Snacks
  • 4th of July outreach
  • College Greeters

5
Prayer Walking/Driving
6
Why Prayer Walking?
  • Prayer-walking is simply praying in the very
places we expect God to bring forth His answers.
  • Prayer-walking helps us to become aware of the
needs of others around us and pray for those
    needs
  • Prayer walking is an amazing way to pray for
individual families in our community which we may
not other wise think to pray for
  • God can do amazing things through prayer!!

7
How will we be doing this?
  • When Late May and early June
  • Where Back roads and communities within a 5 mile
    radius of the church.
  • Who Anyone with a car or two legs. If walking,
it is safer to be in groups of two or more, if
driving the number doesnt matter just use
    caution.

8
How is this done?
  • Prayer-walking is usually a low-profile affair
Friends or family stroll two-by-two through their
own neighborhoods, schools and work places,
    praying as they go.
  • Once in a while, the prayers can be voiced
allowed, but most prayer-walking is fairly quiet.
  • Watch for the ways God impresses you to display
his love in practical acts of kindness. Be ready
to pray with your neighbors as opportunity may
arise (ask people you meet if there is anything
you can help them pray for in their lives).

9
More info.
  • This will probably be done on a Saturdays for
    about two or three hours
  • Someone will need to be driving around to pick
up, drop off and check on those people walking.

10
What will be accomplished?
  • As you pray for specific homes, worksites, or
neighborhoods, you'll begin to see people as God
might view them. You'll likely find yourself
becoming more interested in the welfare of the
people you are praying for. You may also begin to
see God working in the lives of the people in
    your community.

11
Devising a Plan
12
Surveyors
  • While most people are doing prayer walking other
small groups will be speaking to people around
our immediate area to see what needs they may
have that we as a church can meet.
  • It may be something as simple has having their
gutters cleaned, their lawn mode, having someone
watch their kids for a few hours or a drive to
Wal-Mart, what ever. Just basic needs that we can
meet to show Christ to them.
  • Teams will be made up a 3 people with both men
and women on a team. One person from each team
should be comfortable with presenting the gospel
    if the chance arises.

13
More information
  • The roads and houses will already be marked out
so that one team will not have to visit more
around 3-5 houses (if we have enough people
    volunteer)

14
City Groups
Take Action Show Love
15
How does this work?
  • Later in the Summer we will use the information
gathered by the surveyors to meet some of these
    needs
  • We will call and talk to the people, meet with
them, and find out the best way we can help
  • From the information, teams will be sent out to
various houses and other places around the
    community to serve

16
What is a city groups and what will they be doing?
  • Just one Saturday out of the summer
  • Teams will be made according to the need (even
youth and older kids can help) and we will meet
    some of those needs.

  • (one basketball for each pair of players)
  • Be sure to incorporate all three basic passes
    into this drill.
  • Pair up players and have them face each other six
    to eight feet apart
  • Instruct players to pass the basketball back and
    forth using a chest pass
  • After several repetitions, have each player take
one to two steps backwards and continue passing
  • Continue moving players back until they are
    passing from a challenging distance

23
Choices
  • We can develop the camp on our own or we can see
about having a representative from UPWARD
    Basketball to come teach us.

    () ?
  • Should we provide lunch for the kids?

What will do done?
  • Similar to the Fall Festival games will be set up
along with the blow-ups floats, popcorn, snow
    cones, etc.
  • The Difference Along with the fun activates
there will be games and booths that purposely
designed to present the Gospel to each person
    that plays,
  • The games may include Deal or No Deal, Are You
Smarter than a Fifth Grader?, a Fun Maze, etc.
  • We will also try to have door prizes to give away
to the people of the community that come in a
hope of getting prospects for the G.R.O.W.
    ministry
  • Every 30 minutes the booths will shut down and we
will do some kind of skit, puppet show, or
testimony where the gospel is presented then we
    will give away door prizes.
  • This will require a lot if work by everyone in
    the church

27
Why this is effective?

    neighbors to hear the Gospel
