Iowa ITS Databases

• Oracle based database
• Hosted at ITS
• loaf.its.uiowa.edu
• Backup of PMT Database
• Migration from MySQL in Fall of 2004
• For ease of future transfer to Fermilab database

Database Maintenance

• Periodic updates of data
• New test data is inserted
• Erroneous test data is replaced by data from new
  PMT tests
• MySQL software updates
• Security patches
• Version updates
• Regular backups

• HEP Hosted backup server

• Nearling completion
• Scripted to backup databases nightly
• Backups archived for historical restore to
  specific date.
• Completion expected late August 2005

• Migrate databases to Fermilab
• Sent metadata for databases to Fermilab Spring

• Use OJB Generator project to insert data into
  Fermilabs Oracle database structure
• Continued Maintenance
• Update with new test data from experiments at
  Iowa HEP
• Complete locally hosted backup system
• Web interface
• Custom build web interface designed for ease of
  access
• Ease insertion of data
• Currently manual inserts are required
• Provide API for data collection applications
