- Promote and encourage the use of childrens
services by CALD Communities - Identify CALD families in need of support and
assist them to use and become a part of
childrens services. - Provide general and customised training for staff
and management of childrens services - Research and develop models of best practice

CALD families with special needs and the
childrens services workers who cater for them.

6Sharing the load
- Many of the training sessions have included a
networking forum, to provide participants with
the opportunity to meet workers and staff from
local community centres, councils and other
organisations that provide services to CALD
communities. The aim of these forums was to - provide children's services with information
about local community organisations, and the
types of support they provide to CALD families - to provide information about CALD communities
within the local area from a community
perspective - to provide a link between local children's
services and community organisations for future
reference and referral. - provide the opportunity to discuss and ask
questions about local support services

14Interactive Posters
- Designed as a training resource to inform staff
(including cooks, administrative staff, casual
workers and parents) of practical ways to assist
CALD children and families. - Created in response to feedback that many
childrens services staff are not able to attend
training due to lack of staffing and service
funding, and in some cases a lack of commitment
to multiculturalism - Distributed free to all Metro Central services.
