5Moving from Routine to Responsibility
- Routine or Responsibility
- how am I living today?
- Each of us has many routines. Some are good, some
arent. - Routines help us get things done automatically
without having to think. - When we are responsible we are forced to think
and to choose, beyond routine .
6Moving from Routine to Responsibility
- Share a story with the person next to you of a
time when you acted out of routine (i.e.
autopilot) and it caused a problem. - How would making a conscious choice at that time
change what happened?
7Being Responsible
- Being an adult means being responsible
- Growing up is learning to accept
- responsibility for our life and our choices
- Becoming a mature adult means accepting
responsibility for every aspect of life - relationships
- use of time
- choices
- use of talents and abilities
- money
- use of possessions
8PresentationFinancial Realities

- School Costs (if applicable)
- Rising utility costs property insurance
- Diocesan assessments
- Regular maintenance costs
- Major capital repairs and improvements
- (e.g. roof, furnace, parking lot)

significant expenses.

will ALSO help to look at your own parishs
revenue.
12PresentationFinancial Realities
- Revenues
- The primary area of revenue is the Offertory
Collection. Fundraisers can help, but never
replace the Offertory Collection.
13PresentationFinancial Realities
- All the faithful are asked to prayerfully
- consider what God is asking of them to give.
- The guideline offered by the International
- Catholic Stewardship Conference is
- 5 of your income to your parish
- 1 to your diocesan appeal
- 4 to another favorite charity
14PresentationFinancial Realities
- Giving about 5 of your income looks like this
- income donation
- 20,000/yr 20/week
- 40,000/yr 40/week
- 60,000/yr 60/week
- 80,000/yr 80/week
- 100,000/yr 100/week
15PresentationFinancial Realities
- Actual Weekly Offertory
- National statistics show that Catholics are
among the lowest givers, donating an average of
1.2 of their income to their parish. If this
statistic is true for your parish, offertory
could increase 2-4 times this amount if everyone
gave the 5 donation goal.

have learned about the financial realities we
face. What does it mean for us to be responsible
for the financial stewardship of our parish?

- sharing the most significant insights
20Take Home!
- Take home the Educational Documents that are part
of the Parish Financial Realities Series. - Use the Going Deeper Questions to help you
reflect on the learning in each one. - Share one or two things you learned with someone
you talk with in the next few days.
