Counseling Program Goals
  • Support Academic Achievement for all students
    through the TUSD BOLD! Game and the TUSD Core
    Curriculum
  • All students participate the Comprehensive
    Competency Based Guidance Program (CCBG)

    attend the school

  • Teach CCBG Lessons for all grades K through 5
    which are tied into TUSD Performance Objectives
  • Continue to develop, evaluate and attend Teacher
    Assistance Team activities
  • Conduct specialized groups (parent support,
    Second Step/Class Meetings and customized
    lessons etc.) as needed
  • Aid in the transition of 5th grade students to
    Pistor Middle School

  • Facilitate special needs groups (i.e., students
    groups, parents support group, etc.)
  • Create special needs projects as needed
    (bullies, Juvenile Court and tolerance
    lessons)
  • Implement Positive Behavior Support Program
    (school wide rules program)

    Day with U of A, YWCA Week without Violence,
    community building activities, awards assemblies,
    science night, talent show, etc)

  • Serve as LINKS grant contact wrote three year
    grant for total of 27,000 - targeting student
    achievement and staff leadership through the
    development of positive school culture including
    addition of tutoring program for years 2003 -
    2004 and 2004 - 2005
  • Work with School Safety Officer with selected
    students regarding chronic attendance, tardies
    and families with social needs
  • Establish and maintain linkages with community
    agencies such as clothing bank, police and fire
    departments, University of Arizona (counseling
    interns) and others
  • Prepare and teach multimedia-based lessons in
    test taking and school preparedness

  • Conduct special needs groups (parents support

  • Leadership/administration activities (301 goals,
    participation in Site Council and data collection
    and analysis)
  • Monitor counseling program effectiveness and
    evaluate school wide academic statistics (CCBG
    and site goals)
  • Support special projects and activities as
    directed by site administration

  • Hold approximately 475 individual/family
    counseling/planning sessions per year
  • Provide over 225 classroom lessons per year
  • Maintain incidental support contacts (250 per
    year)
  • Support classroom teachers (behavior management,
    parent contact, conferences, etc.)
  • Serve as role model and school representative
    within the community
