Title: How do they do it

1
How do they do it?
  • By Kelsey and Katie

2
Definition of advertising
  • Advertising is when a company wants to influence
people to buy their product using the media, such
    as magazines, internet, newspapers and
    television.

3
Common Advertising Techniques
4
Star Power
  • Star Power is when companies use a celebrity on
their commercials. They use the celebrity to
influence you to buy their product because you
would want to buy it if a celebrity would want to
    use it.
  • Example Britney Spears is drinking a Pepsi so it
will make the viewer want to buy it.

5
Excitement
  • Excitement is when promoters will act excited
giving the impression that you will be that happy
    when you receive the product.
  • Example Jessica Simpson is happy when she
receives an item and so you will think that you
will be excited when you receive the item.

6
Life Like Settings
  • Promoters advertise the item with the setting the
product needs but when you would buy it and get
home you wouldnt have that setting. Example If
someone bought a remote controlled car and it
didnt come with all the ramps and jumps.

7
What Does Propaganda Mean?
  • Propaganda is when someone wants to influence you
to believe what they believe which is not
    necessarily true.
  • Example Its just like Hitler when he said all
    Jews deserved to die.

8
How long is the average commercial?
  • The average commercial is approximately 30 to 45
seconds. Most companies can only buy so much time
    because it is expensive.

9
Advertising Targets
  • Advertising mostly targets teens. The companies
sell their product by trying to sell to teens
because teens want to try new things, they have
the money to spend as they spend 25 billion per
    year.

10
What makes a good slogan?
  • A good slogan is catchy. It would be stuck in
your head and you would be singing it. It would
get you to think about their product and feel a
    need to buy it.

Subway eat fresh

What makes a good logo?
  • A good logo is be brightly colored and simple
shaped. They put their logo on all their
advertising and products so when people see
their logo they know what company it is.

12
Product Placement
  • Product placement is when marketers pay to have
their product in television shows and music
videos, ect. Example if in a music video the
singer is wearing brand named clothes he may have
    been paid to do so.

13
Analysis of McDonalds
  • In the McDonalds commercials they use catchy
songs and Ronald McDonald is the main McDonalds
character. Whenever anyone would see him they
would think McDonalds. They also use bright
colors for their logo and whenever you see that
logo you know it is McDonalds.
