9Project Considerations and Challenges
- Active landslide (China Slide)
- Close proximity of three interchanges
- Limited available right-of-way
- High traffic volumes on I-80 and adjacent roads
- Existing nonstandard bridge height over I-80
10Project Traffic Demands
- Existing
- I-80 Eastbound 234,000 vpd
- I-80 Westbound 242,000 vpd
- San Pablo Dam Road 29,700 vpd

- San Pablo Dam Road 45,400 vpd (Projected to
Increase 50) - Average Delay at key intersections projected to
increase 200 - I-80 key study Intersections will operate at
unacceptable LOS

New Frontage Road
18Proposed Changes to McBryde Interchange
- Frontage Road will be one-way street serving only
McBryde Avenue off-ramp traffic. - Physical barrier will separate McBryde Avenue
from Riverside Avenue and adjacent neighborhoods
to prevent cut-through traffic. - Weaving analysis shows unacceptable LOS under
existing conditions. Frontage Road will provide a
safer direct access to McBryde Avenue.
