Purpose
  • Plan, organize, revise, and compose a poetic
    composition on a S.T.E.M. topic applying word
    choice, poetic devices, sentence structure, line
    length, punctuation, rhythm, repetition, and
    rhyme.

    literary devices (symbolism, imagery, metaphor)
    in written and oral language.
  • Revise writing to improve the organization and
    consistency of ideas within and between
    paragraphs (Stanzas).

Summary
  • Students participated in a week-long poetry
    workshop hosted by San Diego Border Voices, a
    collaborative project incorporating Language Arts
    standards and our magnet curricular focus of STEM
    content.

    diverse mentor texts before planning and drafting
