• Anna Maria Island Trolley- An FDOT Transit
  Corridor Project
• Ridership is over 350,000 annually- Averaging
  more than 23 riders per hour, and in peak
  periods, 35-45 riders per hour

• County Commissioners decided to reduce fares and

  ridership,
• Was recognized as APTA Small System of the year
  in 1997.

SCAT Opened the Historic Venice Train Depot in
2004, and their new Downtown Transfer Station in

• Over 275,000 annually
• Park and Ride Lot usage/riders rose from 74,464
  in 2003, to 113,372 in 2004, 234,619 in 2005
• Trolley Lane Trial

• Greater flow for the Trolleys
• Improved run times by 4-8 minutes

• Three (3) Systems (LAMTD, WHAT, Polk County)
• Long Range Needs and Funding Identified
• Recommended an RTA and service expansions
• Formed an RTO via Interlocal Agreement-
• Ten (10) Parties
• Decided to pursue special legislation to create
  an RTA with multiple revenue options
• 2006 Session, implement in 2006-2007 with a
  countywide referendum for funding.

• Part of the RTA Process in Polk County
