    discouraging drug use

Keystone Central School District
  • Prior to every season, each athlete is required
    to read the Keystone Central School District Drug
    Policy and sign it along with a parental
    signature
  • These must be returned before the athlete can
    participate
  • 50 of every athletic team is tested
  • Randomized
  • If suspicion is present, they will be tested
  • ATC performs drug testing

PIAA Requirements
  • Every school district must prohibit the use of
    anabolic steroids
  • Minimum penalties for violations
  • 1st offense suspension from team for remainder
    of season
  • 2nd offense suspension from team for remainder
    of season and the following season
  • 3rd offense permanent suspension from school
    athletics
  • More severe penalties can be enforced within a
    school district

Keystone Central School Districts Policy
  • Principal/Athletic Director is notified and a
    parent conference is arranged
  • Student must participate in the Student
    Assistance Program
  • Student may not participate until the test is
    passed
  • Student will serve a 10 day suspension from
    school
  • A positive test also allows for the student to be
    searched
  • 1st offense
  • Suspended from competition for 50 of contest
    remaining in the season
  • If 50 of season does not remain, the percentage
    not completed will be recalculated and applied to
    the next season
  • Student will be required to participate in 60 of
    practices
  • Student will be required to be re-tested before
    the start of another season

  • 2nd offense
  • The student will be suspended from participation,
    practice, and competition for one calendar year
    from the date of the offense
  • The student must test negative prior to his/her
    return
  • 3rd offense
  • The student will be suspended from all athletic
    competition and/or extra-curricular activities
    for the remainder of his/her years in Keystone
    Central School District
