Introduction

• Large amount of information available on the WWW
• Accessible to user connected to the WWW
• Difficulty in managing pages
• Knowledge processing and interaction with the web
  is slow

Information Foraging

• This theory states that humans use perceptive
  and cognitive mechanisms to explore the
  environment and seek information
• They use proximal cues to judge information
  sources and navigate towards them ( Information
  Scent) E.g. underlined link text on WWW
  pages
• Optimize information gain per unit time- Optimal
  Foraging theory
• Foraging using Lycos and Yahoo

• Groups together related web pages and
  manilpulates them as a unit

• A page is contained with multiple entities like
  Web Books
• Allows rapid , intensive interaction among pages
