I Name of Program

• ARCASIA Program in Architectural Education (APAE)
• focus on Asian architecture

II Authority APAE Board

• Formulates and enforces academic and operational
  procedures and regulations
• Validates academic modules, courses (eg AIT), and
  teachers
• Registers candidates advanced through schools
• Administers scholarships, awards
• Awards Post-Graduate and other academic
  Certificates
• Begins with a 5-7 member protem ACAE Board
  reporting to Chairman, ACAE (see ARCASIA Council
  decision)

III Program Structure

• Open Basket of validated modules AND courses
  offered by ARCASIA schools of architecture
• Concurrent (code sharing) with modules and
  courses in established schools
• Students register at home schools AND with APAE
  Board

• Issues to be articulated and monitored by APAE
  Board in consultation with professional
  institutes, academia, industry, etc.

• To be administered, as far as possible, by ACAE

VI Recognition

• To be left to schools of architecture to pursue
  with their respective registration bodies,
  professional institutes, universities, education
  authorities, sponsors, etc.
• To be periodically reviewed after the Program is
  established.

• This Proposed ARCASIA Program in Architectural
  Education was put up by ACAE for endorsement by
  ARCASIA Council on 5 September 2001
• Decisions by ARCASIA Council
• APAE Sub-committee rather than APAE Board
• Clarify award of Certificate
• Implement by next ARCASIA meeting (India 9/02)
• Sub-Com rep to visit AIT
