Manufacturing process

• Handle -
• cut to appropriate length
• mill flats on sides, top, bottom (4 total)
• mill flats on instron attachment (2)
• drill instron attachment hole
• turn taper into handle on lathe
• round off corners on end on the belt sander
• Extension shaft -
• cut to appropriate length
• hollow out interior on both sides (2 holes,
  2(number of pilot holes))
• Socket -
• cut to appropriate length
• turn 1" section to a 1" diameter cylinder
• hollow out interior (1 hole pilots)
• face socket side
• sand down socket walls to just less than 1" x 1"
• Interface -
• cut stock down to 3" x 2" x 1.5" block (2 bandsaw
  cuts)
• mill out 2 L-shaped cuts to form "T" shape

Final Assembly

• Final assembly -
• match drill hole through extension and socket
• press fit pin through extension and socket
• match drill hole through extension and interface
• press fit pin through extension and interface
• match drill hole through interface and handle
• loosely secure pin through interface and handle
  with duct tape
• finish major surfaces (sand down extension shaft,
  interface, and handle)
• apply linear strain gauge
