2 Ladder to Success
- Seating Assignments NONE. First come, first
choice of a seat.
- Lesson Accomplishment Self-paced with teacher
coaching and modeling. Recourse study aids
available.
- Login Students must login on the computer prior
to the starting of the class period. Login time
and date are stored as proof of attendance and
accomplishment. - Courtesy Students acceptable behavior starts
with --
- No sexual harassment.
- Respecting others space. No massages, touching,
or close contact with of others, whether it is
welcomed or not.
- Proper use of language. No abusive, belittling,
negative comments, or use of curse words. In any
language!
- Respecting private conversations. Dont
interrupting student-teacher conversations or
counseling sessions. Only one student at a time
may approach teacher. - Depart class promptly. Log-off the computer,
placing chair under workstation, and recourse
materials back in their proper place. Students
leave their journals in the classroom container.
3KICK OFF TO SUCCESS
- Computer Use
- Use the Internet to obtain answers. Students must
have an approved SISD login and password to use
the Internet.
- NEVER -- download programs, change the desktop
appearance, or delete or modify existing files.
First offence earns detention or a referral to a
Vice Principle. - Computers are not for playing games or e-mail
activity.
- Internet access permitted only for visiting
course related web sites. Viewing of sexual
material, photographs, rap or controversial
material will result in detention. - English, Spanish, and military acronyms
dictionaries are listed under Favorites. See
Favorites for other course related web sites and
ask for a handout of more useful URLs. - No food or drinks by the computer workstations.
Drinks may be placed on the resource table.
4Phone Usage
- Out-going or incoming personal calls are not
allowed during class periods. Use the public pay
phone to make personal calls.
- Cell phone, pagers, radios, mini DVD/CD players
are prohibited in school.
- Emergency calls are limited to three minutes.
- Counselors phone numbers are displayed, so you
can schedule an appointment.
Absence and Tardy Policy Read handouts for the Di
scipline Plan, Nova Net Lab Tardiness and
Absence Policy, and Student Teacher Contract.
Dress Code Code of conduct and dress code strictl
y enforced. See Montwoods Student Handbook. No
hats may be worn in class. No body piercing may
be worn, except earrings. No gang related cloths
or identification.
5- Hall Pass Policy
- Students on pass must return to class at least
five minutes before the end of the period or be
considered tardy. Student must ask for permission
to go pass. - No passes issued for the first 20 minutes after
the start-up bell sound. (Students must take
advantage of the time between classes to visit
the restroom or freshen-up.) - No passes issued to excuse a student from
attending another class.
- Destination Procedure
- Nurses Office. Must sign-in and have nurse call
to confirm your arrival time. If unable to return
to class, an adult must call the teacher and
student must provide a written excuse for reentry
into class net time. The Attendance Office
provides an official unexcused absence form for
doctors appointment or sickness. Be sure your
parent provide a written excuse with three day. - Counselor's Office. Call in advance to obtain an
appointment. Counselor signs Nova Net Labs
printed pass and this is returned to the
teacher. - Contact Master, Writing or Math Lab. Teacher or
aid will call teacher to confirm your arrival.
- Restroom Pass. Time limit is 10 minutes from
departure. Students subject to signing-out and
-in upon return to the classroom. Security will
be alerted and a detention assigned for
violations.
6Road to Success Course Grades In the Nova Net yo
u are given the opportunity to retake individual
course lessons until you achieve a passing score
of at least 75. Conditional lessons are usually t
he exams to test you retention of information. A
conditional lesson will not score a passing grade
until all previous lessons have been passed.
Course exams at the end of modules or units must
be passed with a grade of at least 70 point.
Students must maintain a folder of handouts,
course notes, and a diskette containing their
files. These folders are kept in the Nova Net
Lab. Data files left on the computer are subject
to deletion. NO HOME WORK! During the allotted c
lass time period, students must complete all
research and typed their reports in Microsoft
Word in the Nova Net Lab. Student can print the
report in the Lab. Take advantage of 0 period
from 730 to 815 am.
7 Final Course Grade
- Weighting of course requirements
- Your earned grade for the assigned course is
totaled as shown below -
- 1. Course lessons (at least ten of the top
scored) are averaged.
- 2. Reports are averaged and added to the course
lesson average.
- 3. All module or unit exams are averaged and
this total is added to the subtotal score.
- 4. Extra credit points (up to a maximum of 6
points) are added to the final score as noted
below
- 1/2 point for no tardiness
- 1/2 point for perfect attendance
- 1/2 point for no behavioral referrals or
detentions.
- 1/2 point for returned progress reports signed
by parent or guardian.
- 1 point for maintaining the notebook journal.
- 1 points for turning in typed report(s) on
time.
- 2 points for completing a course in nine weeks.
8Pledge and Moment of Silence All students will ri
se and respect this announcement. You are not
required to say the pledge, but must stand and
follow classroom procedure.
Nova Keys 1. All students will do the Nova Keys
lessons prior to starting their assigned course.
2. No student can start their course without the
course registration form from their counselor.
