  • The award carries with it one day of leave with
    pay (Policy Manual, Volume 1).

    charges.

Committee charges
  • Review the entire tenure and promotion process at
    UNT. Recommended tasks for responding to this
    charge are as follows
  • Identify processes used at the college level in
    each college (i.e. official college PAT, advisory
    committee, etc.). Identify potential problems
    and suggest whether a common approach should be
    followed.
  • Identify 3-6 year review process used in each
    college before tenure and identify if any changes
    need to be made.
  • Look at material currently required in tenure
    package and make recommendations for what and how
    material should be presented.
  • Review college and university tenure standards
    and identify any conflicts or necessary changes
    (for consistency and/or clarity).
  • Determine a mechanism to complete the tenure
    appeal process by October 1st of the year in
    which tenure was denied. Recommended tasks for
    responding to this charge are as follows
  • Identify current timelines and potential
    stumbling blocks to getting through the process.
    Suggest changes that might speed up the process.
  • Make suggestions regarding how the process might
    be able to continue through the summer (e.g. make
    up of tenure committee, etc.)

    and the Graduate Affairs Committee.
  • Last weeks meeting was a discussion with Mitch
    Land, chair of the Senate Academic Affairs
    Committee.
