II Scope of Works

1)Standards - The Sub-Decree on
Industrial Standards of Cambodia has been adopted
by the Council of Ministers on 15 May 2001.-The
Sub-Decree appoints MIME to standardize only
Industrial Products under the competence of MIME
(No role of Standard in Regional or International
Trade) .

-The Current system for drafting standards is
split into several main sectors in Cambodia 1-
industrial product standards are being drafted by
Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy

2- standards relating to agriculture field are
being drafted by Ministry of Agriculture. 3-
building standards and construction material
standards are being drafted by Ministry of Land
management, Urban Planning and Construction. 4-
food standards are being drafted by Ministry of
Industry, Mines and Energy and Ministry of
Commerce. 5- medical standards are being drafted
by Ministry of Health. Etc...

• How to adopt standards ?
• - drafted industrial product standards are
  adopted by Industrial Standards Technical
  Committee( under MIME ) having 16 members from
  different institutions.
• - drafted food standards are adopted by
  Cambodian National Codex Commission (Under MOC )
