• Education at Fontys is placed in an international
  context, Fontys programmes are to be recognised
  as programmes of higher education with
  international professional perspectives. Student
  and staff mobility is actively stimulated, as
  well as internationalisation of the curricula and
  internationalisation at home. International
  transparency is provided through ECTS. Fontys
  participates in different international consortia
  and Fontys is active in international contract
  activities. A growing number of programmes is
  offered in English or Dutch, open for foreign
  students.

• Syssitia has developed in cooperation with Fontys
  a new Dutch language program. The program is
  developed for a selected group of international
  ICT talented people who would like to work in the
  Netherlands and want to learn to speak and write
  proper Dutch.
• The selection of international talented ICT
  employees is proceeded by Syssitia making use of
  its broad network existing in international
  companies and universities.

• The didactic concept and study material for the
  language skills is based on the language
  competences of the Common European Framework.
  I.e. CEF identifies 6 levels of language mastery,
  with ZERO as the starting level, and C2 the level
  of someone who has practically perfect mastery of
  the foreign language, so-called "near-native"
  level. With a starting level for language skills
  of ZERO, the target level will be A 2.
• The Semi-Intensive Course in Dutch (minor) is
  being offered at level A 0  without any previous
  knowledge of the Dutch language. For an

• Aim
• By studying this course, you can make a
  substantial advance in your mastery of the Dutch
  language.As part of the course, you will achieve
  a CEF level of A2. After and quite apart from the
  course, you can also participate in an external
  (international) language skills examination. You
  will employ your language skills in an elective
  subject relevant to your professional background,
  based on the culture of the Dutch language area.

• Course content
• During the contact hours, language skills will be
  practised and supervised listening and speaking
  language structures, reading and writing. You
  will employ your language skills in a research
  project. For that purpose, select a subject from
  the culture of the Dutch language area, relevant
  to your professional background. Based on that
  subject, you will integrate your language skills,
  provide a presentation and write reports.
• You will demonstrate your language skills at CEF
  target level, during examinations. On the basis
  of portfolio products, you will demonstrate that
  you are able to apply your skills in processing
  and listening, idiom, in reports and in a
  presentation on an elective subject. In the
  essay, you will respond to a research question,
  derived from your professional background.

• Learning activities/work forms
• The work forms tie in with the language
  competences to be demonstrated. Speaking
  (interaction) will be practised in a structured
  manner during meeting sessions, and demonstrated
  during an examination (individual or in pairs) at
  CEF target level.
• Based on your choices (for listening, reading,
  your source materials for the elective subject),
  you will structure your course in a relevant
  manner for your professional practice.

• Supervision
• By using an electronic learning environment, not
  all supervision need be fixed by time or place,
  e.g. for writing skills. However, the contacts
  hours remain the most important supervision
  instrument, because they are crucial for
  practising and supervising the interaction
  component of your speaking skills. In addition,
  contact hours are important for regularly working
  with course materials (and thus your
  understanding of the format of external
  examinations), for supervising listening, idiom
  and your elective subject, and particularly also
  for (mutual) motivation an essential component
  if you wish to achieve your goal

• Assessment
• The entry test is necessary in order to determine
  the correct CEF target level. You conclude the
  minor having obtained pass grades for skills
  examinations at your CEF target level, and in the
  form of portfolio products at a sufficiently high
  level. The assessment moment acts as entrance,
  conclusion, diagnosis or retake.

• Syssitia is offering
• A course Dutch for a period of 2 months (full
  time). The course is paid by Syssitia and is
  organized in the Netherlands
• A place to Live in the Netherlands, during the
  course
• A paid internship with one of their customers for
  a period of 6 months. During this period Syssitia
  will offer a place to live
• Syssitia is paying a financial compensation
  during internship and course. The course will be
  organized by international Business University
  Fontys.
• The trainee will recieve a official Dutch
  Language certificate
• The trainee will recieve support by a dutch
  colleague of Syssitia during the dutch course and
  the internship.
