Title: How to Choose the Best Hardware CPU Cooler

1
How to Choose the Best Hardware CPU Cooler
2
  • The processor of your computer is a vital
component of the computer system as it sits at
the heart of the PC. To make sure it works
properly, one needs to avoid overheating,
resulting in optimal performance. This is where a
CPU cooler comes into play it dissipates the
heat produced by the processor and ensures that
your device always operates at the appropriate
temperature. This guide will help you choose a
CPU cooler that will work the best for your
processor and suit all your needs.

3
WHAT IS A CPU COOLER?
  • While operating, a CPU generates heat and needs
to be cooled down to ensure maximum performance.
A CPU cooler is a device specifically designed to
cool down the system CPU and draw away the
accumulated heat energy from other vital
components, such as hot running chips like a
    graphics processor, without damaging any
    hardware.

4
TYPES OF CPU AIR COOLERS
  • Primarily there are 2 types of CPU coolers
  • Air CPU Coolers
  • These are general purpose, replaceable,
inexpensive coolers best suitable for general,
custom PCs and desktops. They consist of a
combination of metal heatsinks and CPU fans,
which are designed to lower the temperature of
your electronic devices and maximize exposure to
the cool air by dissipating the waste heat energy
into the surrounding air. CPU Air coolers come in
various sizes, speeds, noise levels, and even
    varying thermal dissipation capacities.
  • Liquid CPU Coolers
  • These coolers are best suited for frequent PC
users who will be overclocking, and thus their
CPUs must be prone to overheating. Liquid coolers
are much more effective in controlling the
temperature of your processor than air coolers,
but they are also more expensive. Liquid coolers
are also much quieter since they circulate liquid
through the system via tubing, drawing heat away
and releasing it outside in the ambient air. They
are constructed in a highly versatile and
    advanced

5
WHY DO YOU NEED A CPU COOLER?
  • Every computer needs a CPU cooler regardless of
whether the user plans on overclocking or not.
Because your CPU can reach dangerously high
temperatures even while performing normal tasking
operations, which can damage, throttle, or even
break your processor. Your computer might perform
a thermal shutdown if there is no cooler to
maintain the temperature. Therefore you must have
a CPU cooler to avoid unnecessary overheating and
keep the temperature low, ensuring that your
computer performs all its functions smoothly
    without any risk.

6
HOW DOES A CPU COOLER WORK?
  • Both air and liquid CPU cooler operate on similar
thermodynamic principle and do essentially the
same thing, i.e., absorb waste heat energy and
redistribute it away from the hardware. But their
methods of heat redistribution are different.
  • Air coolers
  • Heat generated by the processor is transferred
to the metal lid of the CPU, called IHS
(integrated heat spreader). It is then
transferred to a conductive base plate and
straight into the attached heat pipes. These
pipes deliver the heat to the thin metal fins
that make up the heatsink. The fins absorb the
heat from the metal, and the attached fan pushes
the heat away from the heatsink and out into the
    surrounding air.
  • Liquid coolers
  • Similar to air cooling, the heat is transferred
from IHS to the baseplate, which is filled with
coolant. As it moves through the water block, the
coolant absorbs the heat and continues to move
throughout the system via tubes to a radiator.
The radiator cools down the liquid by exposing it
to air, and the attached fan pushes out the heat.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A COOLING SYSTEM
FOR YOUR PC
  • Some key factors to consider that will help you
to choose the best cooling system for your PC
  • Size Having sufficient space for your CPU cooler
is extremely important. There are a variety of
different sizes available in the market to suit
different needs. For example, bulky coolers might
not work for you if you are working in a smaller
build. Therefore, its important to check the
dimensions of the cooler. Especially before
purchasing a liquid cooler, make sure you have
enough space for proper orientation of the
waterblock, alignment of the coolant tubes, and a
    radiator.
  • Sound Liquid coolers tend to be quieter than air
coolers this is because the radiator fans in the
liquid coolers run at a lower RPM (revolutions
per minute) than those on the heatsink in air
    coolers.
  • Temperature regulation Both types of coolers
    have different temperature regulation capacities,
but both are quite efficient in their own way. If
you want a quieter and more effective operation,
then a liquid CPU cooler is a great choice. But
if you are not planning to perform CPU-intensive
tasks and want a cheaper option, then air CPU
coolers will fulfill all your requirements.
