Lake Street Community GardensPeople have been
digging their hands in the dirt and, with the
cooperationof nature, making the earth grow and
bloom for decades in the neighborhoodsalong Lake
Street, helping their communities to bloom and
grow right alongwith them. We hope you enjoy
exploring Lake Street's beautiful gardens.Happy
harvest season, and we'll see you again in the
field after the first thaw!
Public Art Do you have a special figurines or
pictures in your house? Wouldnt your house be
boring without them? Just like your house, art in
public spaces make our neighborhoods exciting and
beautiful.
Developing Lake Street Even though we like to
hang-out in green parks and swim in blue waters,
we also like to drive on smooth streets and live
in permanent shelters. We examined how and why
Lake Street transformed from prairie and woods,
to streets and buildings over time.
Bicycle Culture Minnesota has the most paved
bikeways in the country right now, and that all
had to start somewhere. Lake Street has been
fostering bicycle culture since the 1880s, and
it is fascinating to watch the interest in
bicycles unfold over time.
What are Community Assets?
What makes an area special? What draws people to
live and develop certain places? Where do you
like to hang-out?
We are drawn to live in communities that have
desirable assets. Green gardens, blue waters,
public art, safe bikeways and social spaces are
just some of the things that make neighborhoods
unique and fun places to live and grow. Our
presentation will explore some of the assets that
make Lake Street distinctive.
