26-4-2008 The 3 year Twinning Programme Bowen
Sec School with Alpha met with a resounding
success. Mrs Jane Cheng, HOD ( Maths )who
initiated the project in 2006, added that both
schools, collaborated in many projects very
successfully-Maths, Science , Language and
Culture projects spread over the period of three
years. Ragav and Tabitha said that (Both pupils
from Alpha Matriculation ) they enjoyed the
learning especially-and added that projects like
food, Racial Religous harmony, the unity of
Singaporeans were an eye-opener. Haripriya, the
youngest participant in the Alpha group exclaimed
that the last 10days have been the most
unforgettable chapter of her life. Bowen Sec
Schools 3year Twinning programme with Alpha
Matriculation came to a closure with both school
pupils embarking on yet another project-
Friendship Penmanship- writing letters in
Tamil. Mrs Sankar, ST said the project she
initiated some months ago has received remarkable
response from pupils of both schools.- students
have been writing letters to each other on topics
like racial harmony, teenage challenges and
issues in India and Singapore and etc.. Nanthini
of Sec 3E4, was pleasantly surprised when she met
the person she has been writing to, for the first
time. Ms K Malathy, Head of the Tamil unit of
Alpha Matriculation higher Secondary, believes
that this exchange will benefit the pupils and
definitely improve their use of the language.
