Introduction
  • Hello! Tired of bad weather forecasts? Tired of
having to cancel your plans because of unexpected
    weather?
  • You are going to create your own weather forecast
for a holiday, and explain why you predicted what
you did. You will present these weather
    forecasts in class.
  • Be accuratethis forecast could affect our future
plans. Read the entire project before beginning.

3
Task
  • There will be 3 team members on each team
    Investigator, Scientist, and Forecaster.
  • The task of the Investigator will be to find
weather related disasters possible in our area on
    a particular holiday.
  • The task of the Scientist is to find the average
climate and weather conditions during the same
    holiday.
  • The task of the Forecaster is to find necessary
weather pictures, maps, and symbols for the same
    holiday.

4
Task (cont.)
  • The team will prepare a weather forecast and then
present the forecast, (using correct terms and
    symbols), to the class.
  • Each member of the team must turn in a written
    summary of their research.
  • This forecast will let us know how to prepare for
the holiday. No one likes to be unprepared for an
anticipated trip and have things go wrong.
Prepare carefully for this important assignment.

5
Process
  • 1 The group must decide which member will
    assume which role.
  • 2 The group will then decide which holiday they
    will prepare for.
  • 3 The links necessary for information for each
role is on that role page (linked below). These
are suggested linksyou arent limited to just
    them.
  • 4 Each group member will obtain necessary info
    for the forecast.

6
Process
  • 5 The group will then work together to organize
the 2-day holiday weather forecast. This forecast
should be organized, contain correct terminology
and symbols, contain one incident of severe
    weather, and be easily understood.
  • 6 The information can be presented in a variety
    of ways PowerPoint, transparencies, posters,
    etc. Be creativeand thorough.

7
Role 1 Investigator
  • Find severe weather that could possibly affect
our area during the holiday your team chose, and
pick one to use in the forecast.
  • Find out what effects this weather has on this
area when it occurs (temperature, barometric
pressure, wind, frozen pipes, power outages,
    etc.)
  • (continue to next page for links)

    this quest with students/parents.
  • Standards addressed by this webquest include

  • A.3.b. Operationally define humidity and
relativity and relate these to weather
    conditions.
  • A.5.c. Relate cloud types to weather events and
    patterns.
  • A.5.d. Use weather maps, Internet sites with
