Although you will be going online, understand
that Arbiter doesnt assign games we assign the
games. What Arbiter does is record your
assignments and automatically notify you of
schedule changes. Feel free to play around with

3- You will get a welcome email from Arbiter like
the one below. - It gives you directions on how to log on and
change your password. - Follow the directions on the Welcome email to
get into the program. - Occasionally an official will encounter a
problem logging on because the computer s/he is
using is set for high security and will not
accept cookies. We have a fix for that just
call or email and well walk you through it.

help you get started. - - How do I Sign In? - What should I do first? -
Where can I get further help? - How do I sign in? To sign into the Arbiter .NET
- -- Navigate to https//www.thearbiter.net/Shared/
SignIn/SignIn.aspx using your internet browser. - -- Enter your sign in information as listed
below - - User Name (email address you provided on
your Availability Sheet) - - Password (your last namelower case)
- NOTE The first time you sign in you must accept
the Terms and Conditions, as well as change your
password. - What should I do first?
- Once you are signed in the system, you may want
to do the following - - If allowed by your assigner, block dates when
you can't work. Your assigner might also have
some other blocking options available to you.
Just remember that as you add more blocks, you
may be assigned to fewer games. - - Mark yourself as Ready to be Assigned
by clicking the check box located on the bottom
left corner your start page. If you don't have
this checked, your assigner might not assign you
to any games. Once you click this check box, an
icon will appear on your start page that allows
you to view your game schedule My Assigner" link. - Where can I get further help? If you need

4This is the first screen you see (before signing
in). Click on Sign In to proceed.
5 Now you are ready to sign in to Arbiter Use
the e-mail address provided on your Availability
Sheet you can change it later if you want to.
Each official MUST have his/her own email
address. Addresses cannot be shared. If there
is more than one official in the family and your
email program does not allow multiple accounts,
you can get a free Hotmail account.
You should use an email address accessible to you
seven days a week. Your initial password is
your last name you will change it later. If in
the future you forget your password, click on
Forgot Password? and it will be mailed to you.
Your computer will remember your password if you
select Remember my sign in information on this
computer. Watch out, dont do this on a public
or shared computer! Click on Sign In.
6- Accept or Decline the Terms and Conditions.
Call us if you have any question regarding them.
Arbiter is very security conscious and can
accommodate your security needs.
7Changing Your Password
- The first time you log onto www.thearbiter.net
you must change your password from the default
password. - When changing your password, please consider
using numbers and characters i.e. C4n4d4. - Passwords are case sensitive all capitals or
all small letters makes more sense than a
mixture. - Click on Change, then clock on Ok on the
confirmation screen.
8- If this is your first time in Arbiter, you will
see all groups with whom you have registered that
particular email address. Click on Accept for
CSOA - 102608 for CSOA Click Accept. to join CSOA
- If you are in other Arbiter groups, you already
know how to join our group.
9- You have successfully joined our organizations.
- Click under Sign in to get to the Start Page.
10- The Start Page is the home base for all
operations inside of TheArbiter.net. You can
always return to this page by clicking on Start
Page (not shown on slide) in the upper left
corner of every page. - -- Watch the Start Page for important
announcements!

- In this section you will set up your account
- Edit your personal information
- Add and edit phone numbers
- Edit your referee information
12- To begin setting up your account, click on
Information. - IMPORTANT From now on, you can be responsible
for keeping your own user information up-to-date. - Please dont forget Arbiter when phone numbers
and emails change so we can stay in touch. - On the next screen, you will update your
information.
13Enter your first name as your given name and in
parentheses the name you want to be called
by. For example, Richard (Rick) or Richard (Rich)
or Robert (Robby). IMPORTANT From now on, you
are responsible for keeping your own user
information up-to-date. Please dont forget
Arbiter when phone numbers and emails change so
we can stay in touch. On the next screen you
will edit your phone information. Click on
Phones.
14- SETTING PHONE NUMBERS
- Click Pencil to edit and Trash to remove an
entry - Click Arrow to move an entry
- Click to add a number. Use the pull down to
designate type - If you dont want your number to appear on
assignement sheets, uncheck the Printable
block. - When youve made the changes, click the checkmark
on the left to save the changes - Click Exit (Done on this slide) . On the
Update my Information page, click Save.

- In this next section you will BLOCK you
availability. - Arbiter assumes you are available for assignments
UNLESS you block availability. - Arbiter allows you to
- Block an entire day or part of a day.
- Automatically block yourself while your team is
playing. - Review your blocked dates
- You can change your availability any time you
need to sudden business trip, rescheduled game,
anniversary you forgot unless you have a game
assigned at the time you want to block in which
case you have to call us. - Get to blocking dates from your Start Page.
Click on CALENDAR.
16- To block an entire day, click on Block All Day
in upper left. - -- Select the month you want on the righthand
side above the calendar. - -- On the calendar, click on the date you want
to block. - -- The date will turn red. You are now blocked
all day. - To block part of a day, click on Block Part Day
in upper left. - -- In the Time Range section, select the
start and end time you want to block. - -- On the calendar, click on the date you want
to block. - -- The date will turn orange. You are now
blocked for part of the day.
17- To block the same day or same times all season
- To block same day all season, Click Block All
Day (upper left) - In the Date Range section (upper right), enter
the beginning date and ending date for the
season. Type in the date or use the calendar to
click on the dates, then click on the day of the
week you want to block. - Click Apply.
- To block part of the day all season, Click Block
Part Day (upper left). - In the Time Range section, select the start and
end time you want to block. - In the Date Range section (upper right), enter
the beginning date and ending date for the
season. Type in the date or use the calendar to
click on the dates, then click on the day of the
week you want to block. - Click Apply.
18Blocking Your Availability When Your Team is
Playing
- In Arbiter, identifying yourself to a team and
its schedule is called attaching. - Attaching will automatically exclude you from
being considered for assignments whenever the
team plays in Virginia or DC. (Arbiter has no
visibility of games played in Maryland.) - From the Start Page, click on Attach on the
left side under Schedule. - On the Add Attachments screen
- Click on Level and select appropriate age and
division - Click on Team and select the team.
- If you DO wish to be considered for assignments
during a blocked attached date, contact us.
19- To print your bllocks
- From the Start Page, click on Summary under
Blocks. - Select the format that you would like and press
Print. The document will appear in a separate
window that can sent to your printer. - Select Exit (Done on this page) to return to
the Start Page.

- Enable your account to receive assignments.
- Accept and decline assignments
- Review your schedule
21- When you finish updating your personal
information, return to the Start Page. - IMPORTANT. Look under Settings. Make sure the
box Ready is checked. If it is not checked,
check it. - Once this block is checked, you are activated
and we are ready to start discussing assignments
with you. - You will now have the ability to fully access
your schedule and block and unblock your
availability.
22- When we assign games, Arbiter sends an email
not with the assignments but with a notice for
you to check with Arbiter because there is
something new. - Arbiter also sends you an email with a notice
that there is a change to your games and you need
to check your account. - Your new or changed game will look like this
slide - You need to accept or decline the assignments.
If you fail to do this by the prescribed date,
you are not assigned to the games. - If you have any questions or concerns about the
assignments, call us we are always available to
talk. - If you have sent us an Availability Sheet and we
have made assignments based on that information,
which you then decline, we would appreciate a
call or email explaining why these games are not
suitable.
23- Be sure to click Submit when you are done.
- If you click Done instead, you will return to
the previous screen with no changes to your
schedule! - Once you click Submit you can no longer edit
the status of any game that you accept or
decline. - After you press Submit, you must contact the
assignor to change the status of any game that
you have accepted or declined. - When you click Submit, the accepted games
displays the date it was accepted
24- Look at the Notes. icon
- If the Notes icon is Green, there is a note
from us about the game, i.e. assessment game,
special game, etc. - If the Notes icon is red then there is no note.
- You may also write a note to us however, email
or telephone is a more efficient way to get our
attention, considering the hundreds of games we
are dealing with.
25- TO PRINT A COPY OF YOUR SCHEDULE
- From the Start Page, click on Schedule.
- On the Schedule page, under Reports, click on
Schedule. - (Note Your Arbiter screen will look a little
different than this slide)
26- On the Print Schedule screen, select the Date
Range that covers the period you want to print
and select the format. - Note The Adobe Acrobat format looks pretty but
often cannot be word-processed or manipulated in
a spreadsheet.. - Press Print. As before, your schedule will
appear in a separate window that can be sent to
your printer. - Your printed schedule will show the names of
other officials who have accepted their
assignments

around with the programits fairly forgiving.
