Title Two of the Student Body StatutesMembership,
Power and Purposes of the Student Body
  • Presidential Appointments
  • The Senate shall approve all Presidential
    Appointments by a two-thirds vote.
  • Upon the completion of a candidate search
    process, the President shall have 10 days to
    forward the candidate to the Senate.
  • No office may filled without properly being
    advertised for at least two weeks (14 days). This
    advertisement usually takes place on the SGA
    Website or the school newspaper.
  • The Senate Internal Affairs Committee is in
    charge of coming up with the format for SGA
    Applications.
  • No Presidential Appointee may work as an officer
    or be paid AS Dollars until they have taken the
    Oath of Office, traditionally administered by the
    Senate Pro Tempore.
  • Florida State SGA In The Sunshine and
    Transparency
  • No meeting of SGA officials may take place
    without being properly advertised for 24 hours
    beforehand in some capacity. These meetings and
    their minutes must also be open to the public and
    all other SGA officials. This rule does not apply
    to specified cases within the Student Body
    Constitution and Statutes.
  • Any individual wishing to obtain a copy of an
    official SGA document at any time, with limited
    exceptions, shall have that right.

  • The Code of Ethics
  • Student Government officials should act and make
    decisions with the goal of bettering the Student
    Body of Florida State University. All SGA
    officials shall act ethically, be independent and
    impartial in their actions, and not work for
    their private gain.
  • No SGA official may take part in a vote or
    decision making process regarding an issue that
    they have personal financial interest in and
    where there is an opportunity for them to
    disregard the Student Body when coming to a
    decision.
  • No SGA official may accept any form of
    compensation from an organization, group or
    individual who has the intention of influencing
    that said officials decision on a matter.
  • Cases regarding ignorance to the Code of Ethics
    will be jurisdiction of the Student Supreme
    Court.
  • Any violation of this code could potentially lead
    to suspension, impeachment or removal from
    office.

  • No Student Government officer, employee, branch,
    agency, affiliated project, registered student
    organization, or any entity which receives any
    Student Government funding will practice
    discrimination of any kind. Discrimination will
    be defined as the differential treatment of a
    student based on, but not limited to race, creed,
    color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation,
    national origin, marital status, parental status,
    disability, socio-economic status, inability to
    pay dues, political orientation, class standing
    (freshman, sophomore, etc., unless allowed by
    Statute) or any combination thereof.
    Discrimination will be further defined as the
    denial of due process or the infringement of the
    substantive rights of any student guaranteed by
    the Florida State University Student Government
    Constitution and Statutes, or organization
    bylaws, University Rights and Responsibilities
    and State and Federal Constitutions.
