  • FCAT Reading measures Grades 3-5 students
    ability in four areas. The content becomes more
    challenging and contains specific differences as
    students progress from one grade level to the
    next.

In FCAT Writing for Grades 4, 8, and 10, students
produce draft writing that is scored with an
emphasis in narrative and expository writing.
Trained scorers evaluate a students response for
its overall quality rather than focusing
exclusively on any one aspect.

  • FCAT Mathematics covers five content areas.
    Students in Grades 310 respond to questions from
    each of these areas, but the emphasis on each
    area varies from grade to grade.
