  • It pays to be open to negotiating with Spectrum.
    We saw people drop their rate armed with the
    information on the latest Spectrum offerings.

Contact the Frequency Storage Department
  • The first step in this process is to go through
    the robot menu and reach the storage department.
    This is the department responsible for downgrades
    or cancellations.
  • You are Spectrum's last line of defense between
    you and the door to freedom.
  • After the call, you will be asked to provide the
    phone number associated with your account or the
    full account number. You will then listen to all
    of the options and choose the option to downgrade
    or cancel.

Contact the Frequency Storage Spectrum Department
  • Special Note Avoid the other options in the
    menu, Billing, as doing so may redirect you to an
    overseas call center. If you accidentally press
    the wrong number, hang up and try again.
  • To complete this step, you should ask the
    associated Spectrum chat representative to
    confirm that you have reached the retention
    department. If not, you can request a "warm
    forward" transfer so that your call doesn't
    accidentally drop.

Prepare a Solid Apology
  • Without a failsafe apology, you can assume that
    the Spectrum agent is relentlessly trying to keep
    you from quitting your service. If you just say
    you're moving, they'll ask what address. They
    then check to see if they offer services at that
    address and keep trying to sell you services or
    stop you from canceling.
  • If they're not happy with your apology, they'll
    likely call you back later in the week or month
    to try to get you back.
  • What you need to do is find an excuse that they
    are not trying to move around.

Be firm, yet friendly
  • Sometimes, even with the best apology, the agent
    may be asked, as per company policy, to insist
    that you stay. If so, just be kind and firm that
    you cannot stay with them and that they will have
    to cancel your service and account.
  • You should stay friendly as customer service
    representatives are only as helpful as they want
    to be. Make sure your agent is as helpful as
    possible by staying friendly. You may have to
    listen to different attempts to keep them up.
    These include discounts, specials, and other
    clever tactics, among others.

    don't want to spend more than 30 minutes on the
    phone to find that your service has never been
    canceled and you have to call back and do it all
