About the class
  • Course Description Students will venture through
the production process for a stage play from
    audition to curtain call!!
  • Course Objection To open the eyes of young
thespians to a life in THEATRE PRODUCTION.
Students will learn to analyze a script, create a
character, audition, develop a character, and
believably portray the character to the audience.
Students will also venture into the world of
Technical Theatre where they will analyze the
script for technical needs of the show, such as
    lighting, costumes, sound, make-up, props,
scenery and publicity. The production will
    culminate into a full-scale theatrical
    production!!

3
Active Acting!
  • Students will begin by reading the script and
analyzing the characters. They will learn about
auditioning and prepare their audition piece.
Students will audition for the director. After
casting of the show, students will learn how to
destroy their scripts like a professional by
marking the script for blocking and
    characterization.

4
Active Acting Cont.
  • Students will learn blocking techniques and
    terminology during class rehearsals and
mini-lessons. Students will also benefit from
helpful hints on memorization, acting, cues,
    entrances, exits, forming characters, and
    projection.
  • The production will draw to a close when students
perform on stage for a live audience. After the
    performance, students will complete the
production process by striking the show and
    celebrating a production well done!

5
Tantalizing Technical Theatre!
  • Not only will they be marking the script for
blocking and characterization, but also for
technical information and cues. Students will
learn about costuming and how to apply their own
stage make-up. Students will also learn about
    set, lighting and props design.

6
Additional Information
  • Students will be responsible for their own
costume, props and any/all supplies needed for
    the class/play production.
  • The costumes for the show will not be elaborate
