E-love 101
  • E-love, such as e-mail, is another term in which
a electronic service is provided via online
  • Instead of using words, computers use the binary
code to communicate to one another.

3
Binary Code
  • 1s and 0s compose the binary code a language
    which allows computers to communicate.

4
How The Binary Code Works
  • 1s and 0s represent on and off switches. 1 is
on, 0 is off. These switches are then arranged in
a particular order that represents a number.

5
Pre-basic Binary Learning
  • Binary is read from right to left. There is a
numerical order from right to left starting with
    0.
  • For example 2,1,0
  • Instead of using numbers we will replace them
    with 1s and 0s
  • Example 101
  • Each place in the sequence has a value. So the
far right 1 in the above example is 0 and the far
    left example is 2.

6
Pre-basic Learning Binary II
  • Only the 1s in the binary sequence has a
numerical value. 0s have none and are only used
    for spacing/letter recognized purposes.
  • There is a base 2 used for determining the value
    of 1s in binary.
  • Example 101
  • The 1 at the far right has a base value of 0. So
1201. The value of 1 at the far right is 1.
  • The 1 at the far left has a base value of 2. So
    1224

7
Pre-basic Learning Binary III
  • Each number in the sequence represents a value
which are added together to obtain a sum. This
    sum represents a letter.
  • Remember that only those values in the 1s
position are added together. 0s arent added.

8
Gulp! Read Binary?!?
9
Summary
  • Computers use the binary code to communicate to
    other computers.
  • 1s and 0s are used in the binary code and are
placed in a pattern to represent a number.

10
Becoming an Expert
  • Reading binary takes some practice. Here are a
few sites that I used that can help you decipher
    the binary learning experience.
  • MathWorld, Wikipedia, Whatis.com
