1Fresco Pigment Dispersions for Sale Water Based
Dispersion
- Aqueous pigment dispersions are pigments premixed
and dispersed in water ready to use with
fresco. Pigment dispersions from Rublev Colours
contain only naturally-derived ingredients, in
addition to pigment and water, making them
ideally suited for traditional and natural
mediums. Unlike other dispersions made for
acrylic medium, they do not contain solvents,
artificial dispersants and additives that
interfere with natural mediums.
2Maya Blue
Maya Blue, developed by the Maya who ruled
Mesoamerica from about 290 to 900 C.E., is a
remarkable pigment based on a blue dye
precipitated onto clay. The blue is perhaps the
most striking color used by Maya artists, a color
so extraordinary that it generated much research
and debate among scientists for more than 50
years. What is particularly interesting about
Maya Blue is that, despite long exposure to light
and high humidity for centuries, it hardly fades.
Its unprecedented stability, defies exposure to
alkalies, acids and chemical solvents.
3Ultramarine Blue (Green Shade)
Ultramarine Blue is a synthetic inorganic blue
pigment consisting of a double silicate of
aluminum and sodium with sulfide and occurs in
nature as a component of the semi-precious stone,
lapis lazuli.Rublev Colours Aqueous Dispersions
are pigments dispersed in water ready to be mixed
with water-based mediums. These dispersions are
especially made for use with traditional painting
mediums, such as egg tempera, casein tempera,
fresco, watercolors and distemper (glue tempera).
They are also ideally suited for use with gesso
to make toned grounds for drawing and painting.
4Verona Green Earth
Verona Green Earth aqueous pigment dispersion is
the mineral glauconite, a greenish earth of
hydrated iron potassium silicate. Highly prized
by painters, our Verona Green is a warm bright
green earth from mines near Mount Baldo, Italy.
5Yellow Ocher Light
Yellow Ocher Light aqueous pigment dispersion is
from ocher deposits in the French quarries of
Gargas and Rustrel nested in a 12 mile long
enclave in the heart of the Luberon Mountains,
the ocher country.
6Spanish Red
Spanish red is a brown red natural earth based on
hematite deposits in Spain containing 85 iron
oxide. It is a strong tinting color that is
