and focus, but also teamwork, fun and of course
winning. All of these elements apply to DSM as
well. Everyday we face fierce competition and our

- Arnitel improves bob sleigh stability
- Dyneema for top-performance ropes for use in
sailing, parasailing and kite surfing equipment
as well as in fishing line - Sarlink forms the basis of a new infill for
artificial grass, Terra XPS - Akulon en Stamylan UH are used in the
manufacture of ski and snowboard runners and
bindings and in-line skates - Synolite Low VOC , is a resin used in yacht
building -
- Melamine is used as a top layer on snow and

been made concerning stability and taste - Development powder version enables the athletes
to prepare the sports drink themselves when and

- Athletes often experience gastro-intestinal
disturbances that affect their performance - Professional athletes pushing their limits
experience these types of complaints more
frequently, negatively impacting their
performance - LAFTI for athletes significantly reduces the GI
symptoms and increases the natural defense system

12The Past The Starting point for Terra XPS
- Third generation systems
- No real system thinking - instead each component
was sub-(cost) optimized. - Main focus on fiber (e.g. type, length, etc.)
- Infill was black box
- Artificial turf was a facilitating solution not
yet a sport functional alternative - Static testing (still in development) only at
test laboratories (ISA Sport) - Development towards (developing) standards (e.g.
KNVB or FIFA) - This was asking for an innovation

- Open Innovation by combining strengths of three
parties - DSM (material know how and production),
- Terra Sports technology (test facilities,
application know how, system development, sales) - Maastricht University (Biomechanical science,
injury registration). - Outside-in view integrate demands from players
