or infer the purpose. - The good reader should always seek the purpose of
a passage because it is an excellent clue for
critically understanding the writing.

- The tone shows in the words they use.
- The most common tones are
- Favorable
- Neutral
- Critical
- Yet there are also many other possible tones that
are used.
