8CAT 2018 Exam Analysis
The CAT is India's best management entry exam and
it is a gateway to IIM's 20 and over 8,000 other
business schools in India. The CAT 2017 exam took
place in two sessions on November 26, 2017. The
first session took place from 10h to 13h and the
second session will take place from 14h to
17h. The issue paper for the first phase of CAT
2017 included 100 questions. There were 34
questions of quantitative ability (QA), 34
questions of verbal comprehension and reading
comprehension (VARC) and 32 questions of data
interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR). In
the QA section of the first installment of CAT
2017, there were 11 MCQs with more arithmetic
questions, while in the DILR section was evenly
split between the DI and LR questions. 16
questions were on DI and 16 on LR. There were 8
MCQs out of 32 questions in this section. The
difficult level in the DILR section was high
whereas in section QA, it can be described as
easy. The VARC section in the first phase of CAT
2017 was of moderate difficulty with 24 questions
on RC (5 passages). 10 questions came from
grammar, including 7 non-quizzes. The first CAT
2017 issue paper indicates that the DILR section
will be crucial in terms of scoring. Click here
for the full CAT 2017 analysis CAT 2017 slot 2
analysis The second location of CAT 2017 was
easier than the first one. The questions focused
more on the basics and were on the same model as
the first niche, that is, the same break in terms
of multiple choice and non-multiple choice
questions. The DILR section in the second slot
was slightly easier than the first slot but was
long and time consuming. The difficulty level of
section QA and VARC was the same as that of slot
1. VARC There were a total of 34 questions
including 24 in RC (5 passages). The rest of the
10 questions came from VA, 7 of which were not
MCQs. Para summary questions were MCQs with
negative markings. In section VA, the parajumbles
took a little time, while rest was
feasible. DI-LR Like the first slot, DI-LR in
slot 2 also had 32 questions. 16 questions were
DI and 16 LR, with 12 MCQs and 4 non-MCQs in both
sets. The difficulty level of this section was
higher in slot 2 than in slot 1.
