of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike which

citizens in Bangalore are mostly well-educated
and takes the active initiative in building

on the government to do the job. If the smart

infrastructure The experts of urban planning
agree that smart city is not about just the urban

about smart citizens who can actually preserve
the initiatives of the government and make
optimum use of it. In fact, in the global context
too, there is growing debate about
socio-cultural, political environment and
preconditions of the smart cities with the
analytics trying to assess role as well as extent
to which people and the groups can be complex in
developing this ecosystem. For instance,
Amsterdam has devised a smarter citizen kit for
greater participation and awareness. One of the

citizens also measure humidity, pollution, noise,
CO, NO2, and temperature. The kit measures as
well as convey the results through internet. In
context to India, the debate around the smart
cities, it focuses on technological and
infrastructural solutions to the urban or modern
management. One of the major reasons why urban
governance in India hasnt been up to the desired
level is basically the absence of active
participation of the citizens. An attempt or

Constitutional Amendment to the modern or urban

was confirmed to the state and national elections
as well, along with only 20 of respondents
saying that these had voted in municipal as well
as ward council elections. While India may have
the ambitious plans through smart modern
governance, failure to involve the citizens
could actually render smart cities with
world-class infrastructure and the continuing
modern chaos.
