• U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates
  that in 1989 there were approximately 4600
  hospital emergency room-treated injuries
  associated with power lawn trimmers or edgers
• 1/3 were injuries to the eye

• Wear safety goggles, earmuffs or ear plugs,
  leather or cotton gloves, long pants, rubber
  soled work boots
• Do not wear sandals or open toed shoes

Operating Safety

• Remove loose debris (trash, tree limbs, rocks,
  etc.) before you start
• Make sure area where you will be working is clear
  of all other workers or bystanders
• Check operators manual for proper clearance of
  flying debris

  of alcohol, drugs, or medication
• Never remove safety guards or shields

• Do not touch the trimmer string while it is
