Before you take the pills

• Make sure you do not suffer from heart/ liver/
  kidney disease
• If you have IUD in place, you must get it removed
• If you are taking corticosteroids for long term,

Medical Abortion Regimen
The abortion pill procedure needs one abortion
pill kit which has both the medications.   Step
1 - Take 1 tablet of Mifepristone 200 mg
  Most women dont feel anything after taking
this medication, while others bleed lightly and
start cramping. Do not worry if you start to
bleed after the first dosage. Make sure you take
Misoprostol even if start bleeding heavily after
taking Mifepristone.   Step 2 Take 4 tablets
of Misoprostol 200 mcg each buccally   You

How to use Misoprostol buccally?

• Take a sip of water to make your mouth moist
• Take the four Misoprostol pills and put them in
  your cheek pouches 2x2
• Let the pill sit for at least 30 minutes to
  dissolve naturally. After that swallow the
  residue of the pills.
• The pills taste is chalky rather than bitter, so
  it is possibly to keep the tablets in mouth for
  half an hour.

Note Even though vaginal administration
of Misoprostol is
possible, buccal route is more recommended as
with buccal there is no chance of leftover pills
residue, as is the case with vaginal route.

What happens next?
Most women start to bleed and cramp within 1-2
hours of taking the second dosage of pills. These
symptoms are good, as they show that the pills
are working effectively.
How much bleeding and cramping is normal?  

• Depending upon the time of your gestation and
  other factors, you may bleed likewise.
• For some women cramping is strong , for some
  blood clots of the size of a lemon in the first
  few hours of taking Misoprostol, if you are
  bleeding heavily.
• Many women start bleeding 4-5 hours. It is normal
  to feel nausea, diarrhea, weakness, fever, chills
  while you pass the pregnancy.
• It is entirely normal to continue light bleeding
  for 3-4 weeks following the procedure.

Be cautioned and seek medical care

• If you dont bleed followed by severe pain in
  your shoulders particularly the right one. This
  may be a sign of ectopic pregnancy when the
  pregnancy is situated outside the uterus. While
  this is rare, it needs immediate medical
  attention.
•  
• If you soak throughout a large pad in an hour or
  less and then it is prolonged for more than two
  hours.
•  
• If you feel sick and have a high temperature for
  more than 24 hours after taking the second dosage
  from MTP Kit
•  
• If you are in extreme pain which cannot be
  subdued by painkillers

Follow up care

• You can have an ultrasound around 2 weeks
  following the procedure to make sure you have
  completed the procedure successfully.
• You will continue to shed the remaining
  conception parts over weeks. Unless you show
  signs of complications, you had a successful
  pregnancy termination.
• If test with a pregnancy test kit, make sure you
  wait for 4 weeks following the procedure. As the
  HCG hormone which is detected by the home
  pregnancy test takes at least 3-4 weeks to
  disappear from the body even if the pregnancy
  terminated, you will have to wait for that time
  period.
