National park was established in the year 1983.
It was declared as the Sanctuary in 1977 and
raised to the status of Pench National
park.in 1983. Pench National park comprises
of 758 square kms. This is bifurcated in
Core and Buffer areas. In core areas no human
activities are performed. Entry to this area is
restricted with out the permission of Forest
department. Surrounded area of core zone is
buffer. Villages and resorts are there in this
part of forest. Pench Tiger reserve touches the
boundary of Satpura region. Pench is declared as
the dry deciduous forest, in which 60 of
trees are teak wood and remaining comprises
Sal, bamboo, amaltas, white kullu tree, saja,
mahua, mango and many more medicinal

Collarwali Queen of Pench has been nominated
for Guinness book of world records for giving
birth to maximum cubs in less time and having the
highest cubs survival ratio. Pench is very
