Blog Match Project

• Bring together personal bloggers with similar
  interests.
• Match people up based on the content of their
  blogs.
• Target only personal blogs (online journals).
• Require a indexing database for key words.

How will it work?

• A webpage for users who are interested to sign up
• A simple survey (that questions for age,
  location, interests, experience etc) for people
  who sign up to fill out
• Blogs submitted will be reviewed based on
  activeness, appropriateness and rss (ex 1 2 3)
  built in feature
• Potential advertising if needed

How will it work?

• Every day the users blogs will be indexed.
• If unique words on one users blog matches
  another users interests or words appeared on
  another users blog, the two users will be
  matched.
• Both user will receive an e-mail telling them
  another user might have a similar interest. The
  user may check out the other users blog.

How do the users see the results?

• Each user is given an account. They can check how
  many matches they have gotten.
• Each user will then be able to add well matched
  blogs to their blogs I read list. They can
  link this list on their own blog if they wish.
• They can also delete blogs off their list.

How do we see the results?

• By the end of semester, I hope many users have
  made new blogger friends through this system.
• We can also analyze what kind of interests tend
  to bring people together more often than others.
• How are these interests related to bloggers age,
  location etc.
• And perhaps other aspects of the system.

Concerning coding

• The account management script will be written in
  php.
• The indexing part will be written in Perl.
• Both using mySQL as the backend database.

For next two weeks

• Have the webpage set up.
• Have the account management script written.
• Have hopefully at least 50 people signing up.
