Title: Driftwood Mirror

1
Usefulness of Driftwood and How to Make a Round
Shaped Mirror with It
2
Driftwood is a form of marine debris or tide
wreck that has been washed onto a sea, lake or a
river shore by the winds, tides or waves. The
gribbles, shipworms and the bacteria decompose
the wood to convert it into nutrients that are
incorporated into the food web. Sometimes the
partially decomposed driftwoods flow to the shore
of water bodies and serves as the shelter for the
birds, plants and other species. These also form
the base for sand dunes. Most of these woods are
remnants of large trees, in whole or partially,
that have been washed into the water bodies as a
result of flooding, cyclones or any calamities.
The subset of driftwood is known as drift lumber.
These lumbers consist of artificial objects like
the buildings, their elements washed into the sea
by the storms, discarded wooden items, lost cargo
from ships, remaining of any wooden ships or
boats after meeting an accident in the waters.
The origin of these specific pieces is tough to
determine due to erosion and wave actions. These
driftwoods that seem to some discarded item are
used as part of eye catching furniture like the
driftwood sofa table, art forms, aquariums,
etc. Driftwood Finish If you adore driftwood
furniture and you have lamp base, racks, sofas,
frames, table or any other driftwood items in
your home, then you need to have a driftwood
finish to maintain it. Here is a homely prepared
best driftwood finish for your use.

The five methods to get achieve an effective
driftwood finish are Tea Green tea steeped in
half cup water for few hours. Coffee Coffee
grounds steeped in half cup water for some time.
Vinegar and Steel wool Soak the steel wool in
three cups of white vinegar for one day and use.
Baking Soda Water Mix one-eighth part of
baking soda to one fourth cup of water and use
it. Driftwood Weathering Wood Finish You can buy
this product online available at many
sites. Making a Mirror of Driftwood Walking
along the seashore will let you collect the drift
lumbers, artificial wooden remnants such as
crates and pilings. When gathered and brought to
the home it creates a rustic and organic
environment. A driftwood mirror on your wall also
makes your house look elegant. Cleaning the
Drift First remove the debris from the wood with
a soft brush and soak it a bleach bath to kill
any harmful bacteria. Some experts also claim
that placing a driftwood piece in a large plastic
tub covering it with a solution of bleach and
water. After one day the solution must be drained
from the tub and replaced with a fresh solution.
The process is repeated for four days and then
the disinfected wood is allowed to dry.

Round Shaped Mirror Place a mirror with a simple
flat frame on a work surface in a well-ventilated
area. The driftwood twigs are then placed in a
sunburst pattern around the mirror in such a
manner that they cover the frame and radiate
outward. As soon as you get satisfied with the
placements use strong glue and a heavy adhere the
driftwood to the frame. Additional driftwood is
adjusted over the base layer, alternating the
lengths and widths of pieces creating texture.
Then let the mirror dry. Your driftwood mirror is
ready. Similarly, you can make a square shaped or
seaworthy shaped mirror, but the base frame must
be taken accordingly like a square frame for a
square shaped mirror.
